Autumn is a wonderful time for family photography and I just love being outdoors at this time of year. The beautiful yellows, reds and browns of the trees and foliage provide a stunning backdrop for photos.
There is plenty to keep the kids (and dogs!) engaged and having fun, from jumping in piles of leaves to collecting conkers. And colourful autumn wardrobes add texture and depth to your images.
As the days get shorter, the sun stays lower in the sky, meaning the light is softer throughout the day. In the afternoon and early evening the golden hour comes much earlier than in the summer, bringing that warm glow of at a more manageable time for you and the kids.
The cooler days are also a good excuse to stay inside. Whether you’re playing games, baking in the kitchen or just snuggling up together on the sofa, it’s a great opportunity to capture some documentary images of your family relaxing at home.
